Finding Financial Expertise

Through a fellowship, the Koch Foundation and Steve Boswell are empowering Professor Anand Goel to research high-tech finance.

Through support from Steve Boswell C.E. ’89 Ph.D. ’91 Hon. D.Eng. ’13, who is chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the Koch Foundation, Stevens was able to recruit Professor Anand Goel with a fellowship as the Koch Associate Professor for Financial Innovation.

Goel previously taught at Loyola University Chicago and directed a consulting firm. “Support from Dr. Boswell and the Koch Foundation gives me the resources to research the issues that regulators face in dealing with financial innovation,” Professor Goel said. “This year, the fellowship also supported a Ph.D. student who is examining the social impact of financial innovation. I look forward to being able to work with more Stevens students on research in this field.”

Though Boswell leads a civil engineering firm that has completed more than 25,000 projects in 20 states, he is also interested in business. “Stevens has an engineering side and a business side, and both of those subjects are critical to our nation going forward,” he said. “We’re really good at both. When you invest in Stevens, you’re investing in the right place.”
